Bob Ortegel has been in the game of basketball for over 50 years, achieving success as a player, coach, and TV Analyst. From grade school coach to voice of the NBA World Champion Dallas Mavericks, he has done it all. In an industry where careers typically last less than a decade, Bob’s resilient success carries a story that audiences need to hear.

Ortegel’s 31 year career as a TV basketball analyst has included time with Fox Sports Southwest, ESPN, and ABC, as well as 23 seasons with the Dallas Mavericks. In addition to his on-air responsibilities, Ortegel served as the Mavericks’ primary keynote speaker and ambassador. Prior to his television career, he was an assistant coach at Illinois State, under Will Robinson in his inaugural season as Division I college basketball’s first African-American head coach. He later served as head coach at Drake University from 1974 to 1981.

Ortegel has also spent 14 years in the corporate world, working as an executive with ShowBiz PizzaTime, Inc. (now Chuck E. Cheese’s) and Merle Harmon’s FanFair. He was lured back into basketball by the founding President of the Dallas Mavericks, Norm Sonju, who recognized Bob’s rare ability to communicate key insights about the game to audiences at all levels.
