For forty years Sheriff J.B. Smith has worked in one of America's most dangerous work places, law enforcement, and he's learned a lot about safety and prevention along the way - sometimes the hard way. In his career, he has been shot and stabbed, his nose has been busted, ribs and leg and knee broken too. He has been kicked by a horse and ran over by an ostrich and a car...not at the same time of course. He's been in stake outs and high speed chases gone bad. And he knows this much is for sure, much of that pain and suffering could have been prevented! He wants to engage and entertain audiences with his humorous stories, but educate them on the real safety skills he has learned (in some hard-knocks along the way). No matter how big or how small, the Sheriff illustrates in his stories how one little deviation from what they were trained to do or "goofing around" can create a big problem or even dangerous situations for yourself and for those around you. The Sheriff teaches safety principles that "stick" using lots of humor from real life stories from his decades in law enforcement (from shoot outs, to a parade that turned into an unplanned rodeo, to being handcuffed to a criminal, to stake outs, to a high speed car chases, to a foot race with a killer down the highway) all situations that turned bad and could have been prevented by having a safety mindset and working with others to positively stay accountable. He likes to tell audiences; "Remember, life didn't begin by accident; don't let yours end by one." ...less
