As one of the longest serving sheriffs in Texas history, J.B. Smith draws on his years of experience in larger-than-life investigations and cases as Sheriff of Smith County, Texas for his humor-filled, life changing keynote speeches. He is the star of Investigative Discovery (ID) channel’s hit show, Lone Star Justice. He has garnered an Emmy award for his news segment, “J.B’s Journal” and has had appearances on renowned talk shows such as CBS’s The Early Show and NBC’s Today Show.

J.B. Smith’s experiences and life stories are not limited to being a former sheriff. He is a Vietnam veteran and was contracted by the Department of Defense to be a keynote speaker multiple times for war-returning Navy Seals and Marine Special Forces. He also managed one of the largest prisons in the south, with over a thousand prisoners and 350+ personnel members. Active in serving the community, J.B. Smith is a recipient of the the first ever “Excellence in Community Service” award by the National Chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution. He serves on two Boards of Directors, is a Chairman for five, and co-founded a center that has become a shelter for abused women and children. His wide range of expertise also includes being a licensed auctioneer and rancher.

J.B. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas and is a graduate of the National F.B.I. Academy.
